Next-gen Ducati DesertX V2

The fresh spy shots of the upcoming DesertX adventure bike test mule have created a stir in the global market. The bike seen here is the next-generation model, which is equipped with an all-new V2 engine. This is going to be a huge upgrade for the ADV, as this engine is going to be shared with the Multistrada V2.

As of now, the current model is equipped with a 937cc Testastretta L-twin engine. This engine makes 110 bhp and 92 Nm. However, the new V2 will be an 890cc engine, which will offer around 116 bhp and 92.1 Nm. Moreover, the V2 engine is 5.8 kg lighter than the current engine, thus significantly saving weight.

As per the online report, the redesigned chassis and swingarm, including the other mechanical components, will cumulatively save up to 18 kg with the new V2 engine. The test bike seen in the images also has a reworked tail section, which is likely to improve its agility.

While there is no official statement or hint regarding the launch timeline of the new DesertX V2, we suspect that Ducati will either reveal the new engine or the prototype bike at the upcoming EICMA show in Milan in November.
