Bajaj Auto’s new electric motorcycles coming soon?
In the Q2 FY26 earnings call, Bajaj’s Executive Director, Rakesh Sharma, revealed that the company is actively working on future electric products, which will include a wide range of motorcycles, ranging from the commuter segment to the performance segment.
As per the official, Bajaj is now entering the second phase of manufacturing electric vehicles. Its long patience with the Chetak e-scooter has proven beneficial, as Chetak tops the sales charts in its respective category. Hence, a new range of electric two-wheelers will debut soon.
Mr Rakesh also revealed that a completely in-house developed platform will form the base for these upcoming electric motorcycles. While he did not reveal any critical information regarding which nameplates will be used, we can certainly recall the rumours of an electric Pulsar, which can now become a reality in the future.
Nevertheless, there is still a long way before this new platform will debut. But, as per the officials, there is a “vigorous R&D push” towards the development of this new platform. However, it will be interesting to see how the company will balance the battery cell-related dependency on the import market.
