Mahindra Thar Roxx to get a smaller diesel engine?
Thar Roxx has become one of the most successful Mahindra cars ever. However, it appears that Mahindra is targeting to revise its pricing by introducing a smaller diesel engine.
The latest spy shots of a test car being parked showcase a base variant with no visible visual changes. However, the test car is suspected to be equipped with the Thar 3-Door’s 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine and an RWD drivetrain.
We believe that the smaller diesel engine variant with MT transmission and RWD will cut down the entry-level pricing of Thar Roxx marginally. Mahindra had done the same with the Thar 3-Door, where it later introduced the smaller engine with RWD to push sales.
As far as this engine is concerned, it could be the same unit as the Thar 3-Door, but it is likely to be offered with a higher state of tune. We are expecting more clarity to be achieved in the future regarding the 1.5-litre engine in the Thar Roxx.
If so, the brand will introduce this particular engine on the base variants and the mid variants. The launch could take place by the festive season of 2026.
