The new Maybach S-Class is based on the latest generation S-Class, but it offers a 180mm longer chassis, which results in a better rear seat experience. On the outside, it now features a 20% bigger vertical slatted grille with an illuminated surround and an illuminated ‘Maybach’ lettering on the top.

Additionally, the new trademark Mercedes Digital Lights feature the twin-star DRLs and a sleeker design, along with improved illumination. The front bumper has also been revamped with a new lower honeycomb-like design finished in a golden shade.

The side profile remains more or less the same, save for the illuminated Maybach logo on the C-pillar and the new 20-/21-inch alloy wheels. It still continues to be offered in the dual-tone paint options, and the ‘Manufaktur’ customisation options have been expanded further with more personalisation choices.

The rear profile now gets a redesigned bumper with dual-chrome exhaust tips and a set of new LED taillights featuring the triple-star logo.

The cabin experience of the new Maybach S-Class remains top-notch. The brand has updated the dashboard with the Superscreen triple-screen display, offering all controls of the car. The cabin is also offered with the Vegan leather upholstery option for the first time, while the customisation list has been expanded further with new colours and themes.

The rear seats now feature a recline up to 43 degrees, with additional features like ventilation, heating, memory function, and massage options. The individual controls for the rear seats have moved to the new smartphone-like tablets, which allow the rear passengers to operate every function, including the window curtains, infotainment screen, seat settings, and more.

The new Maybach S-Class is based on the latest E&E electronic architecture, and it uses four ‘supercomputer’ chips that operate every function of the car. Additionally, the cabin is now equipped with a conversational AI-assistant, which uses ChatGPT, Bing, and Gemini support.

Mercedes has also reintroduced the dedicated ‘Maybach Mode’, which softens the air suspension, thus offering a carpet-like ride.

Mechanical changes

The new Maybach S-Class is powered by the following engine options:

  • S580 (M177 Evo) – 4.0-litre V8 bi-turbo engine, which now makes 537bhp/750Nm
  • S580e (PHEV) – 3.0-litre V6 engine paired with a 22kWh battery, offering 585bhp/750Nm along with 98 km pure electric range
  • S680 – 6.0-litre V12 engine offering 630bhp/900Nm, 4.0-litre V8 bi-turbo offering 612bhp/850Nm

The S680 in India will get the 4.0-litre V8 engine, thus ending the chapter for the V12 power.

When will it launch?

The new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is expected to be introduced in India later this year. It will be the flagship model of the carmaker in India, and its pricing is likely to be more than the outgoing model.
