Kia is working on the next-generation Sonet compact SUV, and now this upcoming SUV has a launch timeline. A new media report claims that the next-gen Sonet will debut in India in 2027. Read below for more details about the new Sonet.

2027 Kia Sonet: Everything we know so far
The upcoming generation of the Sonet compact SUV will receive a major overhaul. A latest report published online claims that the new Sonet will move to the new K1 platform from the current K2 architecture. The new K1 platform will not only address the cramped rear seat space of the current model, but it will also allow features like OTA updates and more.
The K1 platform is already in use on the Kia Syros, which ironically is not doing well in sales. However, Sonet has been a popular Kia car in India, and the new-gen model will surely get the benefit from the new platform. A similar strategy was seen recently on the new-gen Hyundai Venue, which also moved to the new platform identical to the K1. The new Venue now offers 20 mm more wheelbase, which has improved the rear seat space.
Apart from the radical design changes, we also believe that the new-gen Sonet will be equipped with a new cabin design that will take cues from the current Syros. The new features might include the new double D-cut steering wheel, a Trinity triple screen display, a panoramic sunroof, and even reclining rear seats. The new-gen Sonet will also get the benefit of the improved ADAS safety features due to the new E&E architecture.
Another big update will be a new HEV or a strong hybrid engine option. While the details about it are scarce currently, the hybrid Sonet will be launched somewhere in 2028/2029.
