A latest online report has revealed that JSW MG is planning to launch a new three-row seven-seater electric SUV in India next month. This new electric SUV will be the first model to launch the new ADAPT architecture in India.

As per the reporting source, this new electric SUV is most likely to be a rebadged version of the Wuling Eksion EV sold in Indonesia. The Eksion is an electric derivative of the Wuling Starlight 560, which is also aligned for an India launch in the future.

While we have spotted a number of test mules of the Wuling Starlight 560, we suspect that it will definitely make a strong case in EV avatar against the rivals like the Mahindra XEV 9S.

The three-row seven-seater electric SUV segment is still new in India, and Tata is also eyeing it with the upcoming Safari EV. The Safari EV will also become a direct rival of this new JSW MG electric SUV.

While the brand did not reveal the price or other details, they officials have hinted that this unnamed e-SUV will undercut the Mahindra XEV 9S, which is positioned at Rs 25.8 lakh (ex-showroom).

The report also reveals that this new electric SUV will be offered with a 69 kWh battery pack, offering 600 km range, and 201 bhp/300 Nm of power and torque. These figures are competitive against the XEV 9S. However, a major drawback could be its FWD configuration, while the Mahindra XEV 9S uses a RWD motor, which gives it the benefit of quick performance, especially on the mountains and steep inclines.

The Indonesian-spec Wuling Eksion EV measures 4.7 m in length, 1.7 m in height, and 1.85 m in width. So, dimensionally it is identical to the XEV 9S. Hence, we can expect a similarly spacious cabin, loaded with tech and safety features like Level 2 ADAS and more.

The overall exterior design of this new electric SUV will be identical to the Wuling donor car. However, JSW MG will give it a slight makeover, and efficient parts like a better AC, more features for comfort, etc, to lure buyers.

More details regarding this electric SUV are likely to surface by the end of this month.
