Mahindra is adding a new flavour to the BE 6. The company has teased the upcoming BE 6 Sporteq, which will make its debut on August 15.
The teaser confirms one of the biggest changes coming to the electric SUV, a triple-screen dashboard. Mahindra will also give the BE 6 some exterior design updates.
Three screens
The new Sporteq variant will get three 12.3-inch screens stretching across the dashboard. One will serve as the driver’s display, while the other two will handle infotainment and related functions.
Mahindra first introduced this dashboard-spanning screen arrangement on the XEV 9e. It has since made its way into more models, including the XUV 7XO and XEV 9S.
The BE 6 currently uses a two-screen layout. This setup is expected to continue on the lower variants, while the new triple-screen arrangement could be exclusive to the Sporteq.
A more conventional dashboard
The current BE 6 has a distinctive halo-like loop surrounding the driver. It certainly looks futuristic, but it isn’t the most practical bit of design. The arrangement leaves limited space for an additional cupholder and also makes the wireless charging pad and USB Type-C ports less convenient to access from the passenger side.
The Sporteq will address this with a more conventional horizontal dashboard. The new design is expected to be introduced across the BE 6 range.
Other changes
The teaser also hints at new upholstery for the Sporteq, giving the cabin a slightly different feel from the existing versions.
On the outside, the BE 6 seems to be featuring a new lip spoiler as well. The original roof spoiler has been retained. There is also a possibility that the Sporteq will exclusively be sold in the Matte Black colour.
No major mechanical changes expected
The BE 6 currently uses Mahindra’s INGLO platform and is available with 59 kWh and 79 kWh battery packs, depending on the variant. The larger battery is paired with the more powerful setup, while the SUV currently claims up to 683 km of MIDC range.
