Aprilia India has introduced the new SXR GT range, positioned as a premium urban-touring scooter family designed to bridge everyday commuting and longer weekend rides. The range is offered in 125 cc and 175 cc versions, with both getting a distinct design treatment and larger 14-inch wheels.
The styling features Aprilia’s signature Tripod LED headlamp, large proportions and new graphics. The SXR GT 125 is available in Matte Black, Glossy Azzurro and Glossy White, while the 175 cc version gets Metallic Blue, Matte Black and Matte Green.
Powertrains
The SXR GT 175 uses a 174.7 cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine producing 13.08 HP at 7,200 rpm and 14.14 Nm at 6,000rpm. The 124.45 cc engine in the SXR GT 125 develops 10.46 HP at 7,400rpm and 10.4Nm at 6,200rpm.
Both engines use electronic fuel injection, a SOHC layout with three valves per cylinder and forced-air cooling. They are also BSVI OBD II Stage B compliant and compatible with E20 fuel.
The larger 14-inch wheels are claimed to provide a more planted stance and smoother ride over varied road surfaces. Both versions use telescopic front forks and five-step adjustable dual-effect hydraulic rear shock absorbers.
More technology on the SXR GT 175
The 175 cc version gets a 5-inch TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity, music and call management and turn-by-turn navigation. The SXR GT 125 uses a 5-inch LCD display.
Braking hardware also differs. The SXR GT 175 gets a 220 mm front disc with ABS, while the 125 cc version uses a 220 mm front disc with CBS and a 140 mm rear drum.
Aprilia will also offer accessories including an adjustable windshield, crash guard and top box for riders looking to add touring capability. Bookings are now open across Aprilia dealerships in India.
