Key highlights
- Recall covers 96 Rebel 500 motorcycles manufactured between April and August 2025
- Handle-lock fixing screw may loosen and potentially affect steering movement
- Honda will replace the affected part free of charge from November 1, 2026
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has announced a recall for a limited batch of Rebel 500 motorcycles sold in India. The affected bikes were manufactured between April and August 2025.
What is the issue?
According to Honda, the handle-lock fixing screw on these motorcycles may not have been tightened to the specified torque during assembly. Under certain circumstances, the screw could loosen, which may affect steering movement. No incidents related to the issue have been reported in India as of September 30, 2026.
Free replacement from November
The recall is part of a global campaign and covers 96 Rebel 500 units sold in India during the affected production period.
Honda will replace the handle-lock fixing screw on all affected motorcycles free of cost, irrespective of warranty status. The campaign will begin on November 1, 2026, at authorised Honda BigWing dealerships.
Honda’s representatives will contact affected owners through phone calls, SMS or email to arrange an appointment. Owners can also proactively check whether their motorcycle is included in the campaign.
How Rebel 500 owners can check
Honda has provided a VIN-based recall checker on its official website. Owners can enter their motorcycle’s Vehicle Identification Number to determine whether their Rebel 500 is covered.
If the motorcycle is affected, Honda recommends contacting the nearest authorised BigWing dealership and scheduling the replacement. The company will carry out the repair without any charge.
Final thoughts
The recall affects a relatively small number of Rebel 500s, and Honda has reported no related incidents in India. However, since the potential issue involves steering movement, owners of motorcycles from the affected production period should check their VIN rather than wait for a dealership communication.
