  • Engine power is most likely to be unaltered

After launching the updated Pulsar range, Bajaj is now headed to update the RS series. The latest spy shots of a Pulsar RS200 confirm that the brand will soon launch the updated bike with new hardware and new features.

Spotted near Bajaj’s R&D plant in Chakan, Pune, the test mule boasted similar bodywork and paint/graphics as the current model. However, the interesting additions included the USD front suspension and a coloured TFT instrument screen.

The USD forks have been present on the NS series already, and the RS was missing them out, until now. The addition of the USD forks will certainly increase the handling and balance of the bike, especially around the corners, which will further justify its ‘RS’ badge.

Meanwhile, the old semi-digital instrument console has finally been replaced by the new 5-inch coloured TFT display that made its debut with the new-gen Pulsar Classic models. This screen is likely to be offered on the complete Pulsar lineup in the near future. As visible in the spy shots, the TFT screen features a clean user interface with an angular tachometer and multiple information displays like a gear indicator, odometer, speedometer, Bluetooth connectivity, etc.

While the test bike has similar graphics and colourway to the current model, we can safely say that the production model will get a new set of colours and updated graphics. However, its overall design will be more or less the same, while the new features will give it a fresh flair of change.

Mechanically, Bajaj is expected to re-tune its engine for better power delivery and improved torque. But the engine capacity and peak power output are likely to be unchanged. The current model packs a 199.5cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that develops 24.1 bhp and 18.7 Nm. Bajaj could also add riding modes and traction modes to the new RS200.

The updated RS200 is likely to be launched before the Diwali festive season, and it could be priced around Rs 1.80 lakh.
