MINI has launched the Cooper Oxford Edition in India, introducing a limited-run version of its three-door hatchback with distinctive British-inspired styling. The special edition celebrates 25 years of modern MINI production at the company’s Oxford plant in the UK.

Priced at Rs 55.50 lakh (ex-showroom), the Oxford Edition will be sold in limited quantities. It is imported as a completely built-up unit (CBU), bookings are open through authorised MINI dealerships, and deliveries have commenced.

What’s different?

The Oxford Edition is based on the Favoured Pack and is offered in two exclusive exterior colours: Indigo Sunset Blue and Chilli Red. Both get a white contrast roof featuring the Union Jack, along with white mirror caps and a red-and-white stripe running along the car.

Other distinguishing details include an exclusive crossed-flags sticker on the boot lid, Union Jack-themed badging and hand-finished design elements. The hatchback rides on standard 18-inch Slide Spoke two-tone alloy wheels.

The Union Jack theme continues inside the cabin, with a flag motif on the steering wheel, specially designed floor mats and unique door sills. The car also gets JCW Sport Seats finished in Vescin Black upholstery.

Features and technology

The MINI Cooper Oxford Edition retains the modern Cooper’s circular 240mm OLED touchscreen, running MINI Operating System 9. The system supports touchscreen and voice controls, along with the ‘Hey MINI’ intelligent personal assistant.

Other features include a head-up display, Harman Kardon surround sound system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging, a panoramic glass roof and electrically adjustable driver and passenger seats. The car also gets selectable LED lighting signatures and rear-light animations.

Powertrain

Power comes from a 2.0-litre MINI TwinPower Turbo petrol engine producing 204 hp and 300Nm of torque. It is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

MINI claims a 0-100 kmph acceleration time of 6.6 seconds and a top speed of 242 kmph. The Oxford Edition also gets adaptive suspension and JCW Sport Brakes.

Safety equipment includes front and passenger airbags, side curtain airbags, ABS, Dynamic Stability Control, Cornering Brake Control, Brake Assist, a rear-view camera and a tyre pressure indicator.
