Jeep India has introduced a 9-speed automatic transmission on the entry-level Compass Sport, making it the most affordable automatic version of the SUV in the country. Priced at Rs 21.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the new Jeep Compass Sport 9AT combines the brand’s 2.0-litre diesel engine with a front-wheel-drive layout.
The new variant expands the Compass range for buyers who want the convenience of an automatic gearbox without stepping up to a higher trim. Customer deliveries are scheduled to begin in the second week of November 2026 through Jeep dealerships and Stellantis Brand Houses across India.
Jeep Compass Sport 9AT engine and transmission
Power comes from the familiar 2.0-litre MultiJet II turbo-diesel engine, which develops 170 HP and 350 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission designed to offer smoother and more effortless driving in everyday conditions.
The new variant retains the Compass’s Frequency Selective Damping (FSD) suspension and Dynamic Steering Torque (DST) system. Jeep says these technologies help deliver a composed ride over varying road conditions and responsive handling.
The broader Compass range continues to offer manual and automatic transmissions, along with 2WD and 4WD configurations. However, the newly introduced Sport automatic is specifically a front-wheel-drive model.
Features and optional accessory pack
Despite being the entry-level automatic variant, the Compass Sport 9AT gets six airbags, Auto Hold and cruise control. It also features a 21.3 cm Uconnect touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, steering-mounted controls and electrically adjustable outside rear-view mirrors.
Customers can also opt for an accessory pack priced at Rs 29,900. It includes ambient lighting, a dashcam with predictive safety features, a Swoosh decal, all-weather floor mats and mud flaps.
