What is new on the 2026 BMW M 1000 R?

 BMW M 1000 R

The all-new BMW M 1000 R has been introduced in India as the latest flagship naked sportsbike of the brand. It is based on the S 1000 RR, but it features a design inspired by the M 1000 RR Supersport. The 2026 iteration of the M 1000 R will be sold via the CBU route in India, and it features subtle design and electronics upgrades.

The front design now features the M-spec dual-flow LED headlights and the M winglets, which are inspired by the M 1000 RR Supersport. Additionally, BMW claims that the winglets are functional and offer up to 11 kg of downforce at speeds of 220 km/h.

BMW is offering the M 1000 R in three colour options: Light White/M Motorsport (limited to the base variant), White Aluminium Metallic Matte (available on the basic and the M Competition variants), and Blackstorm Metallic/M Motorsport (exclusive for the M Competition variant).

While it remains powered by the same engine as the S 1000 RR, it makes 210 bhp and 113 Nm of power and torque. This output is 2 bhp lower than the outgoing iteration, but the peak torque is now achieved at 750 rpm lower, thus making it much more tractable.

Another big upgrade that BMW has done is on the electronics front. It now features a revised traction control system with improved Race Mode response, as it has been carried over from the RR models. Additionally, it gets the M quick-action throttle, which requires less wrist strain to throttle out the bike.

Speaking of the M Competition Package, customers get the benefit from the M Carbon wheels, carbon fibre panels like the air intake cover, chain guard, tank cover, adjustable milled rear footpegs, and an M GPS lap timer to accentuate the Race Mode.

The new M 1000 R is now available via pre-bookings. It competes with the Ducati Streetfighter V4, which is priced at Rs 1.20 lakh cheaper than the BMW.
