Chery Jetour T2 scores 5-star in ASEAN NCAP crash test ahead of India launch

The Chery Jetour T2 SUV is making news headlines once again. This time, the upcoming SUV has scored a 5-star ASEAN NCAP crash test rating, making it one of the safest vehicles in its respective segment. Read more details about its safety features and crash test results below.

Chery Jetour T2 ASEAN NCAP crash test result details

While JSW Motors is gearing up to launch its first passenger car in India, which is going to be a rebadged Jetour T2, the Chinese SUV has scored a 5-star ASEAN NCAP crash test result. The SUV scored 29.74/32 points in adult occupant passenger safety, thus making it one of the safest cars in the segment.

Speaking of the details, the 1.5-litre and 2.0-litre versions of the T2 were tested. It scored 13.74/16 points in the frontal impact, offering good protection to the head and neck of the front passengers, while the overall front cabin was rated stable.

Meanwhile, it scored 8/8 points in the side impact and head protection, as it received ‘good’ rating in all impact zones. On the other hand, it manages to score 40.63/51 points in child occupant passenger safety, with 15.62/16 points for frontal impact, 8/8 points for side impact, and 9.02/12 points with CRS installation.

ASEAN NCAP also tested its ADAS safety features, where it scored 6/6 points in Effective Braking Avoidance (EBA) and seat belt reminder. The T2 is equipped with six airbags, ECS, Hill-hold assist, Hill-descent control, and autonomous safety features, including a 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot assist, rear-cross traffic alert, EBA, auto-emergency braking system, and auto-high beam.

With that said, the Chery T2 is likely to be launched in India by Diwali 2026. It will be introduced under the JSW Motors nameplate, and it is expected to feature a few cosmetic tweaks and a new name for the Indian market.
