What makes the Ducati Formula 73 special?
The newly introduced Formula 73 special edition motorcycle has been specifically crafted to pay homage to the 750 Super Sport, Ducati’s first-ever road-legal motorcycle that introduced the Desmodromic Valve System. The Super Sport was a road-legal iteration based on the iconic 750 Imola Desmo race motorcycle, which was ridden by Paul Smart and Bruno Spaggiari to win the 1972 200 Miglia di Imola race.
The Formula 73 features a special aqua green and silver livery, which is accentuated by ga old-coloured stripe on the sculpted fuel tank – a tribute to the unpainted stripe on the original race motorcycle that helped engineers read the fuel levels. Other beautiful design traits include the oval LED headlamp, short tail section with a silver cowl, and 17-inch silver spoke rims wrapped in Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres.
The Formula 73 is powered by an 803cc L-twin liquid-cooled engine that is used on the other Scrambler models as well. It develops 73 bhp and 65.2 Nm, and it is paired to a 6-speed transmission with quickshifter and slip-assist clutch. It also gets a Termignoni exhaust system with unique design details.
Other special features include the billet aluminium brake lever, clutch lever, and footpegs. In terms of hi-tech features, it gets the traction control, two ride modes, and cornering ABS. It also features the name and numbering on the steering, while the Rizoma fuel cap takes its exclusivity ahead. Meanwhile, the clip-on handlebars and bar-end mirrors keeps its neo-retro design alive.
Ducati will sell only 873 units of this motorcycle globally with a special welcome kit, including the certificate of authenticity and goodies, including a collection of images and sketches from the Imola 1972 period, specially crafted by Ducati Style Centre. We are unsure whether Ducat will launch it in India or not.
