Jawa 42 gets a fresh neo-classic twist with a new Ivory shade

Key highlights

  • Jawa Yezdi Motorcycles introduces a new Ivory colour for the Jawa 42, adding a softer neo-classic look to the lineup
  • Powered by a 294cc liquid-cooled engine producing 27.32 PS and 26.84 Nm with a 6-speed gearbox
  • Priced at INR 1,84,950 ex-showroom with a strong ownership package including warranty and roadside support

The Jawa 42 has always played the role of the rebel in the retro motorcycle world. While others chased chrome-heavy nostalgia, the 42 chose colour, attitude and a slightly playful personality. Now, the brand has added a fresh twist to that formula with a new Ivory shade.

The colour might sound simple, but the intent is smart. Pastel tones are trending globally. Riders want motorcycles that feel calmer and more personal rather than loud or overly aggressive. The Ivory finish leans into that mood. It keeps the bike visually clean while allowing the retro graphics and classic detailing to stand out.

Styling

The Jawa 42 has never tried to look like a museum piece. Even from its first launch, it aimed at younger riders who liked old-school design but wanted a fresh interpretation. The Ivory edition carries that theme forward with retro decals, chequered-flag graphics and a bold 42 insignia stretched across the bodywork.

There is also racing inspiration here. The styling nods to classic track machines from the 1960s and 70s, but it avoids looking costume-like. The offset instrument console and slim silhouette keep the bike modern enough to sit comfortably in city traffic without looking dated.

Engine and performance

While the colour grabs attention, the mechanical package remains the core highlight. The Jawa 42 Ivory uses the same 294cc liquid-cooled J-Panther engine. It produces 27.32 PS and 26.84 Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed gearbox and an assist and slipper clutch.

On the road, this setup focuses on refinement and usability rather than brute aggression. The bike also benefits from India-tuned suspension and optimised gearing, making it friendly for urban riding while remaining capable on longer weekend runs.

Braking performance and NVH improvements continue to be part of the package, helping the 42 maintain its reputation as a neo-classic that rides as good as it looks.

Pricing and market positioning

At INR 1,84,950 ex-showroom Delhi, the Ivory variant sits in familiar territory for the Jawa 42 range. It targets riders who want something more expressive than mainstream commuters but do not want to jump into expensive premium territory.

The neo-classic space remains crowded. But the 42’s design-first approach and unique colour palette still give it a distinct personality. And this Ivory edition reinforces that identity rather than reinventing it.
