Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara launched at INR 10.99 lakh

Key highlights

  • Maruti Suzuki launches the all-new e-Vitara with two battery options and a claimed range of up to 543 km
  • Introductory BaaS pricing starts at INR 10.99 lakh plus battery subscription, aiming to make EV ownership easier
  • New EV-focused ownership ecosystem includes home charging, buyback assurance and long battery warranty

After years of waiting, speculation and endless “when is Maruti going electric?” conversations, Maruti Suzuki has officially launched the all-new e‑Vitara in India.

Pricing strategy

The e-Vitara starts at INR 10.99 lakh under the Battery-as-a-Service model. That means customers pay a lower upfront cost and subscribe to the battery through a running-cost style EMI system.

There is also an e-Flex plan that allows customers to move into the e-Vitara with an EMI similar to their existing car. Again, classic Maruti thinking. Make the transition feel familiar instead of disruptive.

Battery options and real-world usability

The e-Vitara arrives with two battery choices: 49 kWh and 61 kWh. The larger pack claims a range of up to 543 km under official test conditions. On paper, that puts it comfortably among strong contenders in the midsize electric SUV segment.

Now, anyone who has driven EVs knows real range always depends on driving style, traffic and air-conditioning usage. But crossing the 500 km mark is psychologically important. It takes away the weekend trip fear that still hangs around many EV conversations.

Maruti backs the battery with an 8-year or 1,60,000 km warranty, while the vehicle gets a standard three-year warranty with extension options. That long support window tells you the company is betting big on long-term trust rather than short-term hype.

Safety and technology

Maruti has packed the e-Vitara with safety features that push it into modern EV territory. Level 2 ADAS features include adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist and automatic emergency braking. Seven airbags come standard, including a driver knee airbag, which is still rare at this price point.

The SUV also comes with connected tech through Suzuki Connect, offering over 60 digital features. But the bigger story is structural. The HEARTECT-e platform uses high tensile steel and dedicated battery protection systems, aimed at improving crash safety and durability.

The ownership ecosystem

The e-Vitara launches with a home charging wall box included and installed for buyers. Early adopters also get complimentary public charging at dealer locations for a year, depending on usage limits.

Then there is the buyback promise. Buyers can get up to 60 percent assured value under certain ownership plans. That may sound like finance department language, but it directly tackles resale anxiety, which is a real concern in EV buying decisions.

Add to that a large EV-ready service network and dedicated EV managers at NEXA dealerships, and the ecosystem begins to look less like an experiment and more like a long-term plan.
