Mercedes-Benz adds CLA 200 standard range variant ahead of CLA EV’s India debut

Key highlights

  • Mercedes-Benz confirms a new CLA 200 Standard Range variant for India
  • Expected range of 542 km WLTP with a tentative price of around INR 55 lakh
  • Bookings open now with deliveries planned from June 2026

Mercedes-Benz is expanding its upcoming electric lineup for India even before the car arrives. The brand has confirmed that the all new Mercedes-Benz CLA will launch with an additional variant called the CLA 200 Standard Range.

This version will join the previously announced CLA 250+ Long Range model. The idea is simple. Offer customers another entry point into the new electric CLA without sacrificing the tech and features that define the car.

A more accessible electric CLA

The CLA 200 Standard Range will deliver a WLTP claimed range of 542 km. That is still a strong number for a luxury EV sedan.

We expect the variant to start at a tentative price of around INR 55 lakh ex showroom. The CLA 250+ Long Range, which offers an even bigger range of 792 km WLTP, will sit slightly higher at about INR 59 lakh.

Interestingly, Mercedes will keep the equipment list similar across both variants. That means the more affordable model should not feel stripped down.

Same tech, different range strategy

Both versions of the CLA EV sit on Mercedes’ new electric architecture that uses 800 volt technology. This allows faster charging and better efficiency.

Using a 240 kW DC fast charger, the CLA 200 Standard Range can add about 320 km of driving range in 20 minutes. The longer range CLA 250+ can add around 400 km in the same time.

For daily use, Mercedes will also offer its 22 kW wall box home charger. Buyers who pre book the CLA will receive the wall box charger as a complimentary benefit.

The brand is also expanding its charging ecosystem through MB.CHARGE Public, which already connects to more than 9,000 charging points across India.

Design and interior highlights

The CLA 200 Standard Range will feature Progressive Line styling. Expect comfort focused seats, a multifunction sports leather steering wheel and multiple trim options.

Inside, the new CLA will continue Mercedes’ focus on digital interfaces. The MBUX Virtual Assistant will help drivers plan charging stops and manage range during longer journeys.

The overall design of the new CLA stays sleek and coupe inspired. It looks sporty without losing the elegance buyers expect from a Mercedes sedan.

Launch timeline

Bookings for the new electric CLA have opened with a booking amount of INR 1.5 lakh.

Deliveries will begin in stages.
The CLA 250+ Long Range will reach customers first by the end of April 2026.
The CLA 200 Standard Range will follow in June 2026.

This staggered rollout allows Mercedes to ramp up supply while keeping demand strong.
