What to expect from the VinFast VF5?

The new VF5 crossover EV is scheduled to launch in India after the Limo Green MPV. While the brand has confirmed that the Limo Green will launch in the first half of this year, the VF5 EV is likely to be introduced in the latter part of 2026.

While the critical details about the Indian-spec VF5 are untold, we assume that it will be similar to the Vietnamese-spec car. The VF5 measures 3,976 mm in length, 1,723 mm in width, and 1,579 mm in height, which makes it 54 mm shorter and 19 mm narrower than the Tata Tiago EV. However, with its long wheelbase that measures 69 mm more than the Tiago EV, it has a lot more room to offer on the inside.

The VF5 has a typical VinFast design with the V-shaped front fascia, halogen headlamps, and a connected LED light at the rear. With its minimalist outlook, the VF5 has an overall crossover stance due to its ground clearance of 169 mm.

The international-spec model has a spacious but less-equipped cabin. It features a sloping dashboard design and has a 7-inch digital console and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment with HVAC buttons positioned underneath.

In terms of features, it is expected to offer Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, Type-C charging ports, steering-mounted audio controls, cruise control, auto AC, a 4-speaker sound system, PM 2.5 air filter, and six airbags.

Powering the VF5 are two battery options in the global market: 29.6 kWh (95bhp/135Nm) offering 268 km (NEDC) range and a 37.23 kWh (136bhp/135Nm) with 326 km (NEDC) range. We expect the latter to be launched in India.

With that said, the exact launch timeline of the VF5 in India is yet to be determined. We believe that it could be priced between Rs 10-12 lakh.
