BMW Motorrad India has officially launched the updated 2025 S 1000 R, priced at INR 19.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The bike arrives as a completely built-up unit (CBU) and is now available for bookings across BMW Motorrad dealerships nationwide.
This isn’t just a cosmetic refresh. The new S 1000 R gets revised engine geometry, improved electronics, and a shorter final-drive ratio for quicker acceleration. It’s still a naked roadster, but now it’s even more unapologetic about its superbike DNA.
Engine and performance
At the heart of the S 1000 R sits a 999cc liquid-cooled inline-four engine that churns out:
- 170 bhp at 11,000 rpm
- 114 Nm at 9,250 rpm
BMW claims a 0–100 km/h sprint in just 3.2 seconds, with a top speed electronically capped at 250 km/h. The shorter gearing helps the bike feel punchier off the line, making it ideal for both track days and aggressive street riding.
Features and technology
BMW has included a plethora of rider aids and creature comforts in the S 1000 R. It is equipped with cornering ABS (ABS Pro), dynamic traction control, M Quick Action Throttle, engine drag torque control (MSR), hill start control, rain, road, and dynamic riding modes, a 6.5-inch TFT display with navigation and connectivity, LED lighting with running lights during the day, a USB Type-C charging port beneath the seat, and an E-Call emergency system Dynamic, Comfort, and M Sport are optional packages that include features like heated grips, forged wheels, cruise control, and lightweight parts. The list just goes on.
Design and colour options
The 2025 S 1000 R gets a more aggressive stance with sharper tank extensions, exposed subframe, and a split-face LED headlamp. It’s available in three colour schemes:
- Blackstorm Metallic
- Bluefire/Mugiallo Yellow (Style Sport)
- Lightwhite Uni/M Motorsport (M Package exclusive)
The bike carries a 16.5-litre fuel tank and weighs around 199 kg dry, which helps it stay nimble in corners and stable at high speeds.
Warranty and support
BMW offers a standard 3-year unlimited kilometre warranty, extendable up to 5 years. Buyers also get 24×7 roadside assistance and flexible finance options through BMW India Financial Services.
