The upcoming S-Class facelift will be introduced in the S450e variant initially, as per the brand. This will be the first time ever in India that the S-Class will get a hybrid variant.
Speaking of the details, the new S-Class facelift features a set of redesigned LED ‘Digital Lights’, a new front grille with chrome highlights, and a reworked front bumper with more aerodynamic support. The size and dimensions are nearly unaltered, save for the new alloy wheel options. The rear design is enhanced with the new tri-star LED lights and a reworked bumper.
The major change is seen on the inside, where the facelifted model now packs the ‘Superscreen’ setup, which is essentially a full-width screen on the dashboard, featuring a seamless connected panel for the driver console, infotainment, and passenger entertainment screen. This screen supports the latest MB.OS software, which enables a long list of customisation options, including suspension, steering, and more.
Another update is the addition of two individual 13.1-inch entertainment screens for the rear passengers. Mercedes has also added a new smartphone-like tablet that the rear passengers can use to adjust the seat recline, ventilation, heating, seat massage, rear curtains, sunblinds, and other features as per their taste and comfort.
Coming to the important part, the new S-Class will be offered with a 3.0-litre inline-six turbo petrol engine, which is paired with a 22 kWh battery. This battery offers a pure electric range of up to 100 km, while the combined output stands at 429 bhp and 680 Nm. The brand will also introduce other variants in the future, including the new V8 twin-turbo engine, which will replace the outgoing V12 variant.
The estimated launch price of the new Mercedes S-Class facelift in India is around Rs 2-2.4 crore.
