2026 Tata Punch facelift turbo engine details
The latest teaser of Punch showcased the iTurbo badge, which has cleared the air around the new engine debut on the facelifted model. This turbocharged petrol engine is most likely to be carried from the Altroz Racer, and it develops 118 bhp/170 Nm.
The teaser also shows the 6-speed manual transmission gear lever, which further confirms that it could be the same engine. Moreover, the updated Punch facelift will get a new HVAC panel with 65W fast charging Type-C ports, a 360-degree camera, and hill-descent control as well.
Speaking of the turbo engine, it has always been a major requirement for Punch, as the current 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine is not a good performer. Moreover, Punch is a heavy car, which makes it better suited for a turbo engine.
However, with the turbo engine debut, the majority of the variants will continue to be offered with the current 1.2-litre petrol engine. We suspect that the iTurbo engine will only be available on the top-spec trims, which will help in the segregation of the variants perfectly.
With this new engine, the new Punch will be available with three powertrains: 1.2-litre petrol, 1.2-litre CNG, and the new iTurbo petrol. The facelifted Punch is scheduled to debut on January 13, and the addition of the iTurbo petrol will certainly increase its price range.
