Renault might be delaying the Kwid update for the Indian market, but the French brand has other important markets to handle first. One such market is Brazil, where the Kwid remains in high demand. The brand’s upcoming Kwid facelift was recently spotted in production guise in Brazil, giving us a clear idea of what to expect from the new model.
Renault Kwid facelift: What to expect?
The grey colour Kwid model was spotted at a dealership yard in Brazil, where the car looks showroom-ready. The biggest update is in terms of the styling, where it now gets a redesigned fascia.
The front now has a new set of headlamps, a new grille, and a sharp bumper design with a protruding lower lip. Meanwhile, the side profile is almost unaltered, save for the new glossy black wheel covers and black mirrors. This specific car has a dual-tone exterior colour with a black roof.
The rear profile does not get a lot of changes. The taillights look a bit redesigned, with a black and smoky texture to induce sportiness. Meanwhile, the rear bumper now gets a big black cladding with silver garnishing at the lower part. We are not sure whether these changes will make as it is to the India or not.
Moving on the inside, the cabin is what makes it feel like a proper “facelift”. The interior now features a new three-spoke steering wheel, a new dual-screen setup with a gloss black highlight, tilted towards the driver, and a new cabin dual-tone theme. The steering wheel has audio and cruise controls, which means that the global market will get the cruise control feature.
Mechanically, we do not expect any changes. The Indian-spec version uses a 1.0-litre three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine with a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT gearbox option. The new facelifted model will continue using these in India.
As far as the launch timeline is concerned, the new Kwid facelift is likely to launch in Brazil in the coming months. However, it is expected to be launched in India early next year.
