Nissan has officially confirmed the sixth-generation Micra, which will enter the European market as a fully electric compact car. Bold design with assertive styling
Developed at Nissan’s Design Europe (NDE) studio in London, the new Micra EV features:
- SUV-like stance with pronounced wheel arches and dark wheel arch trims.
- Iconic protruding LED headlamps, which perform a “welcome wink” animation when unlocking.
- 18-inch wheel options, including “Active,” “Iconic,” and “Sport” designs.
- A sculpted “ice cream scoop” waistline, adding depth and aerodynamics.
- 14 color combinations, including two-tone roof options.
With its fresh styling and audacious personality, the Micra EV is built to stand out while offering a practical city-driving experience.
Powertrain and range options
The Micra EV will be available with two battery options, balancing range and affordability:
- 40 kWh battery – Producing 120 bhp and 225 Nm, delivering up to 310 km of range.
- 52 kWh battery – Generating 147.5 bhp and 245 Nm, offering up to 408 km of range.
Equipped with 100 kW DC fast charging, the Micra EV recharges from 15% to 80% in just 30 minutes. A heat pump system ensures efficient battery temperature management, optimizing charge speeds and durability.
Interior features and tech
The Micra EV’s cabin blends Japanese elegance with modern digital advancements, including:
- Twin 10.1-inch screens for infotainment and digital instrumentation.
- Adjustable ambient lighting with 48 color options.
- Google Built-In, featuring Google Assistant, Maps, and Play Store apps.
- Voice control for navigation, media, and climate settings.
The Micra EV also supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology, allowing drivers to power external devices using the car’s battery, ideal for camping, workstations, or outdoor entertainment.
Safety and Advanced Driver Assistance
The new Micra comes equipped with Nissan’s ProPilot Assist, including:
- Lane-keeping assistance and adaptive cruise control.
- Emergency braking and intelligent speed assist.
- Blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and occupant exit alert.
Expected pricing and market position
The Micra EV will compete with urban electric hatchbacks, including the Volkswagen ID.2 and Renault 5 E-Tech. While official pricing hasn’t been revealed, analysts expect it to start around €26,000, depending on trim levels and incentives.
