India’s electric three-wheeler market is on fire as it continues to add over 45,000 units monthly. However, it is yet to see the best products and big manufacturers jumping into it, as most of the electric 3Ws sold are sub-standard and lack the professional build, offering unsafe performance and unreliability.

Catering to this issue, Bajaj Auto has introduced its new electric three-wheeler range called Riki. The Riki e-rickshaws are offered in two variants, called P4005 and C4005. The Riki P4005 denotes the Passenger variant, and is priced at Rs 1,90,890 (ex-showroom).

It is based on a monocoque chassis and gets powered by a 5.4 kWh battery pack that offers a claimed range of 149 km and supports fast charging as well. Other key features of the Riki e-rickshaws include the independent suspension, hydraulic braking system, and a 3-year battery and electric motor warranty.

Meanwhile, the Riki C4005 denotes the Commercial variant that offers a flatbed for cargo carrying. It is priced at Rs 2,00,876 (ex-showroom), and offers the same features as the P4005. However, it is expected to be used in rough conditions and to carry a load, therefore it offers 28% gradeability and 164 km claimed range.

Bajaj is rolling out the Riki e-rickshaw range region-wise, as Patna, Moradabad, Guwahati, and Raipur become the first cities to get the Riki range, which shall be followed by the other cities of UP, MP, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, and Assam in the first phase.

The idea behind rolling out the Riki e-rickshaw range in these states is the high demand and lack of options in these markets. This will enable Bajaj to establish good will and brand image among the domestic electric 3W buyers.
