  • Rs 1 lakh cheaper than the standard wheelbase variant

BMW India has launched the long-wheelbase version of the X1 SUV. The new X1 LWB is priced at Rs 49.90 lakh (ex-showroom), and it comes with a single petrol engine option.

In comparison to the standard X1, the LWB version receives changes to make the rear seat experience more comfortable. The first change is the overall length of the SUV, which is now up by 116 mm in comparison to the standard model.

Interior changes

Meanwhile, the wheelbase has been increased by 108mm, which makes the rear seats more spacious by increasing the legroom. Additionally, BMW has returned the suspension to make it softer yet keep the handling and chassis balance intact, like the standard model.

Other changes include the reclining rear seats and 15mm more cushioning in the thigh support for the rear seats. This is expected to make the longer journeys more comfortable for the rear passengers.

Features

Apart from these updates, the X1 LWB looks exactly similar to the standard wheelbase model. On the inside, it continues to use the connected screen display with a 10.25-inch digital driver screen and a 10.7-inch infotainment screen.

The dashboard gets asymmetric AC vents, ambient lighting, and a three-spoke steering wheel, while the central console features a floating console with a gear selector button, a parking brake button, and other controls.

The new X1 LWB comes loaded with the following features:

  • Panoramic sunroof
  • Ambient LED lighting
  • Wireless phone charging pad
  • Dual-zone climate control
  • 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system
  • Electric tailgate
  • 360-degree camera
  • Adaptive LED headlights

However, there are some features that it misses out on. These include: front seats with ventilation and memory settings, a dedicated rear seat climate control, and ADAS safety features.

Engine specs

Powering the X1 LWB is a 1.5-litre, three-cylinder, turbo petrol engine that makes 156 bhp. The total power output is up by 20 bhp from the standard X1. Meanwhile, it makes the same 230 Nm of torque as the standard X1. The X1 LWB comes with a 7-speed DCT gearbox and a front-wheel-drive configuration.

Bookings for the X1 LWB have commenced nationwide, and deliveries are expected to commence shortly.
