Key highlights
- Third-generation Audi Q3 spotted testing in India for the first time
- New design, larger proportions and a tech-heavy cabin expected
- India launch likely in 2026 as Audi refreshes its compact SUV lineup
Audi seems to be warming up its India strategy again, and the latest sign comes from our roads. The third-generation Audi Q3 has been spotted in India albeit on a flatbed. Not one but two variants have been seen in Mumbai.
What’s new?
The new Q3 looks larger and more muscular than the current model. The stance feels wider. The proportions look more SUV-like. Audi appears to be moving away from the soft crossover look and giving the Q3 more visual weight.
Up front, the grille looks wider and flatter. Expect a redesigned single-frame grille with a more upright face. The headlamps appear slimmer and more angular. Audi will likely use its latest LED matrix lighting tech here. The DRL signature should also be new, because Audi never misses a chance to play with light graphics.
The side profile shows a longer wheelbase. This should translate to better rear seat space, something the current Q3 could improve on. The shoulder line looks sharper, and the wheel arches appear more pronounced. Bigger wheels are expected on higher trims, because style sells.
At the rear, the test car hints at a connected tail-lamp layout. Audi has been moving in that direction across its global lineup. Expect a cleaner tailgate design with more horizontal elements.
What to expect
Inside, the third-gen Q3 should be a big leap forward. Audi’s latest cabin layout includes a curved digital cockpit, a larger central touchscreen, and fewer physical buttons. Touch controls will dominate, whether we like it or not. Material quality should also step up, because this segment demands it now.
Features are likely to include a fully digital instrument cluster, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a panoramic sunroof, powered front seats, a premium audio system, and advanced driver assistance systems. ADAS is becoming non-negotiable in this class.
Under the hood, expect familiar turbo-petrol options. Audi may continue with the 2.0-litre TSI engine in a higher state of tune. Mild-hybrid tech could also make an appearance, depending on India-spec planning. All-wheel drive will likely remain exclusive to top variants.
The timing of this sighting suggests Audi could launch the new Q3 in India sometime in 2026. The current model has been around for a while, and competition has moved fast. BMW X1 and Mercedes GLA have both raised the bar.
