KTM 390 Duke price hiked – Here’s why
The new 390 Duke will now cost you Rs 3.39 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi. The brand has increased its price by a massive Rs 40,000, which has set the on-road price in some states more than Rs 4 lakh – first time for the 390 nameplate.
With that said, this massive price hike has not been decided immediately, but the brand has been holding it for a long time ever since the GST 2.0 slabs came into effect. However, Bajaj had decided to absorb the hike of its 350cc and above models, including the brands Triumph and KTM, so that customers did not feel the heat of the improper taxation.
Bajaj has been working on the solution, and the latter came in the form of a new downsized 350cc engine, which has been recently revealed for the Triumph range. This engine is also likely to feature on the upcoming KTM bikes, which shall be priced lower than the 399cc models by a big margin.
However, Bajaj has decided to continue selling the 399cc models, which include the KTM 390 Duke, to read the market shift, and to decided whether the brand should stop selling the 399cc models in India in the future or not.
Mind you, the new GST 2.0 tax slab says that any two-wheeler above 350cc is liable to pay 40% GST, which was earlier 18%. This has raised the prices of the popular bikes like the Royal Enfield 350cc range, Triumph 400cc range, and the KTM 390 models.
