Aprilia SXR 125 and SXR 160 axed – Here’s why
The SXR 160 maxi-scooter was introduced in India in late 2020. It was followed by the introduction of the SXR 125 in 2021. Both models pulled initial sales, but eventually, the competition got stiff with the new rivals like the Yamaha Aerox 155, TVS Ntorq 160, and Hero Xoom 160, leading to a substantial dip in sales.
While the company has not officially announced the discontinuation of these models, the official website has delisted them. Moreover, the dealerships are left with no stock of these models, and the sources reveal that the dealerships have been ordered to stop the bookings.
Now, it is unclear whether the brand will bring the next-gen models of the SXR 125 and 160, or whether it will launch the updated models with revised prices in a second bid. However, the SR 125 and SR 175 are still Aprilia’s sole scooter survivors with an aggressive design and peppy performance being their strongest point.
