If you have been wondering what happened to the Tesseract e-scooter, Ultraviolette now has an answer for you. The brand has announced that the Tesseract will now be launched next year, and this major push has happened due to a technical redesign.

Why has the launch of the Ultraviolette Tesseract been delayed?

Ultraviolette introduced the Tesseract e-scooter nearly 15 months ago. The massive debut event also commenced the pre-bookings of the smart e-scooter. In fact, its starting price was also announced at Rs 1.45 lakh (ex-showroom).

However, after promising the deliveries to start in Q1 this year, the brand has been silent all these months. Now, it has been revealed that there has been a major shift, or let us say evolution, in its electric platform. Hence, the brand has been busy redesigning the complete EV architecture.

But why did the shift take place? As per the brand, its engineers went into technical difficulties when achieving the final stage of production prototype. Originally, the brand intended to use the same platform as the F77, but in a later stage of development, it was revealed that there were many packaging restrictions. Hence, the engineers went back to the whiteboard and redesigned a new architecture.

The main restrictions were related to its thermal packaging. Therefore, there were only two ways out of it: either reduce the promised underseat storage of 30 litres, or reduce the 15 kW motor to 10 kW. But the company was adamant about delivering what it promised to the initial customers, hence a complete redesign took place. The new changes include a redesigned BMS, vehicle control unit, motor controller, and other technical parts.

The new EV architecture is 50V more than the F77 or X-47 Crossover’s platform. This benefits the scooter with lightweight and more powerful packaging. Additionally, customers will be able to enjoy a higher rate of charging, which may be even more than what was promised.

Apart from the EV platform update, Ultraviolette had conducted customer feedback sessions last year. The result? The Tesseract now features a redesigned footboard with more spacious legroom, a redesigned seat for more comfort, and handlebar repositioning for better ergonomics.

Ultraviolette says that the scooter is under the final phase of validation and certification, and it will be introduced in Q1 next year. Its complete pricing is yet to be revealed. Tesseract will be offered in three battery packs: 3.5 kWh, 5 kWh, and 6 kWh.
