Renault Duster 1.0 turbo mileage unveiled
The new-gen Duster is based on the R-GMP or Renault-Global Modular Platform. The brand has specifically made changes to this platform so that the Renault Kiger-sourced 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, turbo petrol engine can be offered.
The 1.0 TCe trim of the Duster is equipped with this engine, and it offers 100 bhp of power. However, it comes only with a 6-speed manual gearbox, unlike rivals like the Volkswagen Taigun and the Skoda Kushaq, which also offer an 8-speed automatic gearbox with their 1.0-litre engine.
Leaving that aside, the company has specifically tuned this engine for the Duster, and the brand has now revealed that it delivers 19.41 km/l of ARAI-certified mileage. Now this is very close to the 19.98 km/l claim of the Volkswagen Taigun 1.0 6-MT. Meanwhile, the Kushaq 1.0 6-MT delivers a claimed 19.66 km/l mileage.
With that said, Renault also offers a powerful 1.3-litre, four-cylinder, turbo petrol engine on the Duster, which has been sourced from Dialmer. This engine generates 160 bhp and 280 Nm, while it comes with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox options. The ARAI-claimed mileage of this engine with manual transmission is 17.75 km/l, while the DCT automatic delivers up to 18.45 km/l.
