- Mahindra Vision S spied testing in Mussoorie
- It will be based on the new NU_IQ platform
- Vision S is likely to be launched early next year
Mahindra is rigorously testing the upcoming Vision S mid-size SUV on the Indian roads before the production version is revealed later this year. A new test mule was recently spotted navigating through the narrow streets of Mussoorie roads in Uttarakhand. Mahindra seems to be ensuring the all-terrain capability of the Vision S before it hits the Indian roads next year.
The Vision S is based on the new NU_IQ platform, which has been designed to accommodate ICE, hybrid, and electric powertrains. Mahindra will initially launch the Vision S with two engine options, as speculated. These are likely to include the 1.2-litre TGDI turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre m-Hawk turbo diesel. Both of these engine options will get manual and automatic gearbox options. However, the production-spec Vision S is highly unlikely to be a rear-wheel drive SUV.
The exterior design of the test car shows a typical boxy SUV that will offer an upright stance and a commanding road presence. The latter is a typical case with Mahindra SUVs, and it also happens to be one of the main reasons behind the high sales figures of cars like the Scorpio N and the XUV7XO. The front profile of the test car has a new vertical slatted grille with round headlamps and a rugged bumper that integrates LED lights.
Meanwhile, the side profile features protruding rear view mirrors, flared wheel arches, chunky alloy wheels, and functional roof rails. The tail section gets a boot-mounted spare wheel, vertical LED taillights, and a rugged rear bumper design.
While the latest spy shots could not capture the interior details, the previously surfaced interior images have already shown us the new five-seater cabin layout with a vertical dashboard, unique vertically-aligned AC vents, a three-spoke steering wheel, and a big floating infotainment console. We expect the production-spec range-topping variants will offer the ADAS safety features, a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging, electric seats with ventilation, and more such features.
Mahindra is expected to reveal the final production version of the Vision S later this year. Along it, Mahindra will also unveil its official name, launch timeline, and expected prices.
