Hyundai appears to be preparing a fairly big visual change for the next-generation Tucson. Images of the upcoming SUV’s front-end design have surfaced, giving us an early idea of what Hyundai has planned for its popular mid-size SUV.
The current Tucson is known for its rather dramatic parametric grille and jewel-like lighting elements. The next-generation model seems set to take a different route, with a more upright and conventional SUV design.
The design clues have reportedly appeared through Hyundai’s new PLEOS infotainment ecosystem, giving us an early look at the face of the upcoming Tucson.
A different face for the Tucson
The current Tucson’s front end is one of its biggest talking points. Its grille integrates the LED daytime running lights into the pattern, making the lighting almost disappear when switched off.
The next-generation SUV is expected to move away from that approach. Early images suggest a cleaner and more upright front fascia, with the lighting elements arranged differently from the current model.
That could make the new Tucson look less futuristic and more traditionally SUV-like. Hyundai has been gradually evolving its design language across its newer models, so the Tucson’s makeover isn’t entirely unexpected.
PLEOS will bring a tech overhaul
The new Tucson is also expected to adopt Hyundai’s PLEOS infotainment system, which made its debut on the Ioniq 3.
The new interface is built around a large central touchscreen and a smaller digital display positioned ahead of the driver. Hyundai has also retained a selection of physical controls for frequently used functions, something that should please buyers who aren’t fans of having absolutely everything buried inside a touchscreen.
India launch details still unclear
The next-generation Tucson is expected to arrive as a 2027 model-year vehicle in global markets, but Hyundai has not yet confirmed when the new SUV will reach India.
The current Tucson received a facelift for India in 2024, bringing updated styling and additional features. A full model change could therefore still be some time away for our market.
