The first-ever teaser video of the upcoming Scorpio N pickup truck has been released ahead of the official world debut at the brand’s Annual Independence Day event. Likely to be positioned as a low-cost alternative to the Toyota Hilux, the new Scorpio N pickup features several design traits similar to the concept version shown at the 2023 Independence Day event.
Mahindra Scorpio N pickup: Everything we know so far
As visible in the teaser video shared, the exterior design silhouette of the Scorpio N pickup truck shows an identical design to the original concept truck. There are sharp edges that are visible throughout the bodywork, and the sharp C-shaped LED daytime running lights, sharp vertical LED taillights, and muscular body cladding hint at a strong road presence.
Although not many details are revealed about its exterior, the teaser video does show a double-cab version with a long loading bay and an upright stance. However, a clear look at the inside was teased in the video, which shows an all-new cabin, thus thrashing all assumptions about its interior being similar to the Scorpio N facelift. Some other visible design cues include the new grille with horizontal slats that get chrome highlights and big wheel arches with dual-tone alloy wheels.
The new dashboard design gives similar vibes to the Ford Everest SUV, as it boasts a vertical, waterfall-like big infotainment screen surrounded by AC vents, a new centre console with physical control buttons and a new gearshift lever, a new three-spoke steering wheel, a new digital driver display console, and modern features.
The visible features that we could spot through the teaser include: a rotary dial knob for drive modes or terrain modes, front ventilated seats, an electronic parking brake button, a sliding central armrest, a dual-zone climate control system, off-road telemetry, a wireless charging pad, and a black cabin theme with brushed aluminium highlights. The range-topping variants are also likely to feature an ADAS safety suite.
Powering the Scorpio N pickup truck will be the same engine options as the Scorpio N facelifted SUV. These are likely to include the 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine and a 2.2-litre m-Hawk turbo diesel engine. However, in true pickup truck fashion, these engines are likely to be slightly detuned for improved low-end torque and off-road performance. The 4×4 drivetrain will be a standard offering; however, a utilitarian base variant could also be launched with a 4×2 drivetrain. There will be choices of automatic and manual gearboxes as well.
Mahindra is expected to launch the Scorpio N pickup truck below the Toyota Hilux. We suspect that it could be priced around Rs 20-25 lakh.
