Tesla has expanded its charging network in the Mumbai region with a new Destination Charging station at Lake Shore Thane. The new facility has four AC Destination Chargers, each offering 11 kW of charging power.
Located in the UB parking area, the new charging point is aimed at Tesla owners visiting the shopping and dining destination. Tesla claims 99.95 percent uptime for the charging facility.
The Thane installation also takes Tesla’s charging footprint in India to seven locations, with a combined total of 20 Superchargers and 24 Destination Chargers.
Tesla brings Model Y experience to Thane
Tesla is hosting its first Experience event in Thane from August 12 to August 19. Visitors can check out the Model Y and Model Y L through guided walkarounds and product experiences.
Those interested in getting behind the wheel can also book test drives through Tesla’s website.
This is a fairly sensible location for Tesla to expand its presence. Destination chargers are designed for places where owners are likely to spend some time anyway. Instead of making a separate stop purely to charge, customers can plug in while shopping or grabbing a meal.
Refer and Earn comes to India
Existing Tesla owners can refer friends or family members who go on to purchase a Tesla. For every successful referral where the buyer takes delivery, the existing owner gets Rs 11,000 towards Supercharging or a new Tesla.
There is an additional incentive for new buyers. The first 10 people who order a Tesla using a referral link will receive Rs 22,000 off the purchase price.
Model Y and Model Y L continue to headline the range
The Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive gets a claimed 500 km WLTP range and can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 5.9 seconds. It is priced at Rs 50.89 lakh.
The larger Model Y L is a three-row, six-seat SUV with an all-wheel-drive setup. It claims up to 681 km WLTP range and a 0-100 kmph time of 5.0 seconds, with prices starting at Rs 61.99 lakh.
