Ather Energy has finally launched its new family scooter, Konarc, in India. The Konarc is priced from an introductory Rs 99,999 (ex-showroom) mark and goes up to Rs 1.45 lakh.
Speaking of the details, the Konarc electric scooter is based on the all-new EL platform. This platform has been made to offer reliability, performance, long range, simple servicing, and low cost of ownership.
The Konarc electric scooter is available in S and Z lines. As of now, the company has announced the prices (ex-showroom) of the following variants:
- Konarc S (100 km range) – Rs 99,999
- Konarc S (125 km range) – Rs 1,21,999
- Konarc S (161 km range) – Rs 1,44,999
The brand has yet to announce the price of the S (200 km range) and Z variants. The S variants will be available in five colour options and the Z in four. Moreover, deliveries of the 125 km and 161 km variants will start next month, while the 100 km variant will be delivered in the first quarter of 2027. Meanwhile, the 200 km S variant and Z variants will hit the road in the third quarter of 2027.
The EL platform is scalable, and this has been achieved by reducing the number of components by up to 15 per cent. The company says that reducing the components will not only make servicing quicker, but it will also keep the ownership costs in check.
The Konarc features a subtle family scooter design with a conventional LED headlight, a long front apron with a U-shaped LED lightband, and a large footboard area for the rider, a long single seat, a tubular pillion grab handle, a 14-inch front alloy wheel for improved ride quality, and dual-tone colours.
In terms of features, it gets a TFT console with wireless smartphone connectivity, Google Maps navigation, tow and theft alert, auto hold, cricket dash score, reverse, find my scooter, SMS/call/music options, geofencing, keyless ignition, and other smart features. Moreover, it comes with an onboard 450W charger, and customers can further opt for a 450W home charger, where both can work together as a 900W charging system to offer quicker charging.
In terms of tech, Ather has also introduced its AeBS Advanced Electronic Braking System. This is an in-house technology that works like an ABS to offer improved braking power. Unlike the CBS brakes found on conventional scooters like the Activa, the AeBS works with the help of an electronic module, which increases the braking power and retains traction altogether to offer lesser braking distance.
In terms of performance, the Z series will offer a top speed of 80 km/h, while the S line offers a top speed of 70 km/h. Meanwhile, the S line models will come equipped with the Deepview screen, while the Z line will feature the TFT screen.
