Honda XR300 Rally: Everything to know before buying it

The new XR300 Rally is a dual-sport offering that is based on the less-equipped XR300L. The prime difference between the two motorcycles is the purpose they have been built for. At Rs 1.83 lakh, the XR300L offers a slim and lightweight trail motorcycle for off-road fun. Meanwhile, the XR300 Rally offers tweaks for long-distance touring.

In terms of visual appearance, the XR300 Rally packs a long windscreen, an LED headlight, handle knuckle guards, and a long beak. Meanwhile, Honda has equipped it with a bigger 13-litre fuel tank, as opposed to the 7.8-litre fuel tank of the XR300L. This adds to its range, which is very helpful for long-distance touring.

Honda engineers have also equipped the XR300 Rally with more modern features like a coloured TFT console with Bluetooth connectivity that offers turn-by-turn navigation, SMS and call alerts, a switchable rear ABS, and a traction control system as well. The XR300 Rally rides on 21-inch front and 18-inch rear tube-type spoked tyres. The bike also gets disc brakes on both ends with a dual-channel ABS.

Since it shares its underpinnings with the XR300L, the Rally is equipped with the CB300F-sourced 293.5cc single-cylinder air/pil-cooled engine. This engine offers 24.5 bhp and 26.5 Nm. It is paired with a six-speed gearbox.

Honda will sell the XR range exclusively through the BigWing showrooms pan-India. The bookings are now open and deliveries are expected to commence shortly.
