Ampere has expanded its electric scooter range with the Nexus EX+, bringing more power, connected features and a longer-life battery to its existing Nexus platform.
Powertrain, battery and charging
The biggest change is the new 5 kW motor, which produces 202 Nm of peak torque at the wheel. Ampere claims a 0-40 kmph acceleration time of 4.5 seconds. The motor is also rated for continuous gradeability of 18 degrees and stop-and-go gradeability of 16 degrees, making the upgrade particularly relevant for flyovers, steep roads, hilly terrain and riding with a pillion or additional load.
The Nexus EX+ has a claimed top speed of 93 kmph and gets three riding modes along with reverse The scooter uses a 3kWh LFP battery with an IDC range of 136 km and a real-world range of 90 km or more. The battery is rated for a claimed battery life of 2,00,000 km.
Charging from 0-100 percent takes a claimed four hours using the supplied 750W off-board charger, while 0-80 percent takes 3 hours and 10 minutes. The charger is also IP65-rated for water resistance. Nexus Updated Leaflet
Other features
The Nexus EX+ has 170 mm ground clearance, a 765 mm seat height and weighs 126.4 kg. Storage includes a 22-litre boot, with space for one full-face helmet. It rides on 12-inch alloy wheels and gets a front disc with a rear drum brake.
The higher-spec version gets Intellipack, Ampere’s IoT-enabled connectivity suite accessed through the Ampere Connect App. More than 30 functions include live tracking, geo-fencing, Find My Scooter, turn-by-turn navigation, remote diagnostics, trip reports, charging history, energy insights, battery health information and service booking.
The Nexus EX+ also gets a 6.2-inch PMVA display. Both variants are available in Carbon Knight and Steel Grey.
