- Jaguar Type 01 revealed in the production avatar
- Powered by a 1,000+ PS quad-motor setup
- EPA range claimed of up to 644 km on a single charge
Jaguar has finally unveiled the Type 01 electric four-door coupe in the global market. It is based on a newly developed dedicated platform, which the brand claims has the highest power output and lowest drag on a production model to date.
The Type 01 is based on the Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA), which has been specifically developed for it. This bespoke platform offers 850V electrical system support, which can add 322 km of range in just 13 minutes. The brand claims that the four-door GT can cover up to 644 km (EPA range) on a single charge. While its exact specifications are yet to be disclosed, Jaguar claims that it makes over 1,000 PS of power, which makes it the most powerful Jaguar model ever manufactured.
As far as its production is concerned, Jaguar will manufacture the Type 01 in the UK. The official bookings will commence in early 2027, while deliveries are slated for the second half of 2027.
Speaking of its exterior design, the Type 01 features the brand’s latest philosophy with the ‘strikethrough’ nose that features sleek LED lights and a conventional-looking front grille. There are active aerodynamics to cool the battery and motors, which open and close automatically.
Jaguar has retained most of the design from the concept version, which is quite radical in itself. The side profile is dominated by the sloping roofline and a coupe-like rear quarter design with wide rear haunches. The big aerodynamic alloy wheels are complemented by the wide footprint of the car’s chassis, which gives it a low-slung profile.
Jaguar is expected to launch the Type 01 in India as well. While the official timeline for the launch remains faint as of now, we can safely say that it will be introduced somewhere by 2027 end or early 2028. The Type 01 will be positioned against the likes of the Rolls Royce and Bentley, which means that it will be priced somewhere around Rs 2 crore mark, or maybe even higher.
