BMW F 650 GS: What do we know so far?

The fresh spy images of the upcoming ADV have surfaced on the internet with new details. The test prototype seen here has the X-shaped headlight that is reminiscent of the other BMW ADV models like the F 450 GS.
The test bike does not bear any badge for obvious reasons. However, its taller profile and comfortable riding posture, along with the spoked tubeless rims and long-travel suspension, hint that it will be a dual-sport.

The test bike is seen using a two-in-one exhaust system, which further clarifies that it is powered by a parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine. While its exact capacity is unknown, the earlier prototype was spotted alongside the KTM 790 Adventure and the Yamaha Ténéré 700. This hints that this one is probably going to be a 650-700cc mill.
Online reports claim that this engine will be all-new. It is likely to offer around 75 bhp and 69 Nm when paired with a 6-speed gearbox. Being a BMW, it will come with a host of advanced electronic aids and smart features like adjustable suspension, an adjustable windscreen, a six-axis IMU offering cruise control, etc.

The whole crux of this model will be to close the gap between the F 450 GS and the F 900 GS. Moreover, 650-700cc ADVs are gaining demand in the global market, and this model will cater it perfectly.
BMW is expected to introduce the pre-production prototype model at the EICMA 2026 in Milan, Italy. However, it will not be any time before the end of 2027 that we get to see the production bike in flesh.
