Key highlights
- Denza to debut on November 13

- Retail plan and other details to be revealed soon
BYD’s luxury sub-brand, Denza, is all set to enter the luxury car market in India. The brand has officially announced that it will reveal its retail plan and the first car on November 13, 2026.
While EVs continue to contribute little in the mass-market segments like mid-size SUVs, the luxury car market is the opposite. Premium buyers often prefer EVs as they pack performance and a quieter cabin experience, which serves the purpose.
As of now, what we know is that Denza will be beginning its India journey with the D9 electric MPV. The D9 is a popular MPV among VIPs in China, and it will compete with the Toyota Vellfire and Lexus LM in India.
The D9 comes with a tallboy design with a massive cabin space that offers superb chauffeur-driven experience to the passengers. Although it does give the same feel as the Vellfire due to the design similarities, the D9’s electric powertrain offers up to 600 km of range, which should be enough for customers.
The D9 will be followed by the Z9 GT, a four-door electric low-slung shooting brake, which comes with a 122.9 kWh Blade battery. The Z9 GT offers up to 1,156 bhp and it can sprint 0-100 km/h in 2.7 seconds, while offering a range of up to 701 km. This positions it in the super car category.
While Denza is BYD’s sub-brand, it will be retailed via new showrooms with exclusive offerings and supreme customer experience. We expect the D9 MPV to be priced around Rs 95 lakh, which shall make it nearly half the price of the Lexus LM.
