Aprilia RS 457, Tuono 457 – New warranty period details

After losing many potential customers and enquiries, Aprilia India seems to have entered the damage control mode. The Italian manufacturer has now extended the standard warranty period for the RS 457 and Tuono 457 duo.

Earlier, the standard warranty was 3-year/36,000 km, which has now been upgraded to 4-year/48,000 km. Additionally, unlike before, the new warranty is transferable to new owners, may it be the second or third owner.

However, the company has yet to confirm whether the new scheme is applicable to previous owners or not, or whether they can purchase it now.

Speaking of the engine issues, multiple RS 457 owners had reported their motorcycles getting seized with the engine head blowing off and smoke popping out. After a long struggle, Aprilia subtly admitted this issue and began rectification.

However, the company subsequently lost a lot of potential customers due to the negative branding that happened on social media. As a result, the new warranty scheme has been rolled out to generate confidence among the upcoming owners.

Mind you, the 457 duo of motorcycles is powered by a 457cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine, which develops 46.9 bhp of peak power. The RS 457 and Tuono 457 are the most affordable Aprilia motorcycles in India currently.

Our verdict

The new warranty scheme rolled out by Aprilia is a good decision. It will inspire new customers to opt for the 457 motorcycles, which indeed are brilliant to ride and powerful enough to shame other rivals.
