What to expect from the upcoming Tata Safari EV?

A recent media report has revealed that Tata is working on the electric Safari, and it is scheduled to launch in India in the festive season later this year. The upcoming Safari EV will be based on the acti.ev+ platform, which also underpins the Harrier EV.

The Safari EV will become the first three-row 7-seater electric SUV of the brand, and it will be based on the TiDAL E&E architecture, which will support features like a 540-degree camera, OTA updates, Level 2 ADAS, low-speed cruise control, in-car digital payment, and a summon mode.

Intended to compete against the Mahindra XEV 9e, the Safari EV will feature the same battery packs as the Harrier EV, which include the following:

  • 65 kWh RWD offering 538 km range
  • 75 kWh RWD offering 627 km range
  • 75 kWh AWD offering 622 km range

While the interior design and layout are likely to be similar to the ICE Safari, the exterior will undergo aerodynamic changes, which are likely to include a closed grille design, a new front bumper, aerodynamic alloy wheels, and an exclusive colour.

The Safari EV is expected to be priced around Rs 25-30 lakh.
