BYD India has expanded the Sealion 7 lineup with a new Dynamic variant, bringing down the entry price of its premium electric SUV. Priced at an introductory Rs 41.90 lakh (ex-showroom), the new variant sits below the existing Premium and Performance versions.
A more affordable Sealion 7
The biggest reason for introducing the Dynamic variant is fairly straightforward, make the Sealion 7 accessible to a wider audience. With the new variant, the Sealion 7 range now consists of Dynamic, Premium and Performance trims. BYD says the expanded lineup is intended to give customers more choice depending on their requirements and budgets.
The Dynamic variant retains the core styling and premium positioning of the Sealion 7. It is available in Atlantis Grey, Cosmos Black, Aurora White and Shark Grey.
Battery
The Dynamic uses BYD’s 71.8 kWh Blade Battery with a claimed 520km NEDC range. The SUV uses the company’s dedicated e-Platform 3.0 and gets technologies including Cell-to-Body construction and Intelligence Torque Adaptation Control.
The SUV continues to offer several of BYD’s premium features, including a panoramic glass roof, rotating touchscreen infotainment system and a range of safety and driver-assistance systems.
Festive benefits included
The new variant also comes under BYD India’s ongoing ‘Celebrate Your Dreams with BYD’ festive campaign. Customers buying the Sealion 7 Dynamic can avail a complimentary 7 kW home charger with installation, a 10-year roadside assistance extension and an extended warranty covering the LFP low-voltage battery for 10 years or 1.5 lakh km, whichever comes earlier.
The standard warranty and other ownership terms are subject to the applicable conditions.
For BYD, the Dynamic variant is a fairly sensible addition. It doesn’t try to reinvent the Sealion 7. Instead, it takes the same premium electric SUV and removes some of the price barrier to entry.
