Ferrari CZ26 revealed as a one-off SF90-based supercar with 1,000+ hp

Key highlights

  • Ferrari CZ26 is a one-off created for a US customer
  • Gets the SF90 Stradale’s 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 plug-in hybrid powertrain
  • 0-100 kmph in 2.5 seconds and a top speed of 328 kmph

Ferrari has unveiled another one-of-one creation, and this time it has taken the SF90 Stradale and given it a completely different personality. Called the Ferrari CZ26, the new supercar has been created under Ferrari’s Special Projects programme for a US customer. The design was developed by Ferrari’s Design Studio under the direction of Flavio Manzoni.

Unlike a conventional Ferrari special edition, the CZ26 isn’t simply an existing model with a few exclusive bits bolted on. The entire body has been redesigned around what Ferrari describes as a more technical and futuristic interpretation of the high-performance berlinetta.

Design

The CZ26 retains the technical specification and performance essence of the SF90 Stradale, but its bodywork is completely bespoke. Ferrari has given it a distinctly horizontal design with a two-box silhouette. The body appears to flow from the front into a sharply truncated rear section, while four muscular wheel-arch elements give the car a planted stance.

The front gets a full-width grille incorporating the lighting elements, brake cooling intakes and sensors. At the rear, the car features cantilevered tail-lights, a large spoiler and a dedicated diffuser.

Power

Underneath all that custom bodywork is Ferrari’s familiar plug-in hybrid hardware. The CZ26 uses a 3,990 cc 90-degree twin-turbo V8, producing 786 hp and 804 Nm on its own. The electric powertrain adds up to 217.2 hp, with energy stored in a 7.9 kWh battery. The combined power is a whopping 1003.2 hp.

Ferrari’s figures put the car’s maximum electric range at 25 km. Power is sent through an 8-speed dual-clutch F1 gearbox, while Ferrari’s electronic systems include eSSC, E4WD, SCM, FDE 2.0, EPS and ABS Evo. The CZ26 can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 2.5 seconds and reach 200 kmph in 6.7 seconds. Its top speed is 328 kmph, while Ferrari claims a 100-0 kmph braking distance of less than 29.5 metres.

Aerodynamics

The CZ26 gets a redesigned cooling system, revised airflow management, new bypass ducts and a redesigned underbody. There is also an air-curtain system around the front wheels to reduce aerodynamic drag.

At the rear, the large upper spoiler and dedicated diffuser are designed to increase downforce while maintaining aerodynamic efficiency. Ferrari has also redesigned the engine cover with additional vents for thermal management.

The result is a Ferrari that is technically based on an existing supercar, but visually and aerodynamically feels like something entirely new.
