Ferrari has finally done it. The Prancing Horse is going electric and it’s doing it the Ferrari way. Unveiled during its Capital Markets Day, the Elettrica marks the brand’s first-ever EV, set to launch in late 2026. And no, this isn’t a compliance car or some quiet eco experiment. It’s a full-blown Ferrari, built for speed, soul, and spine-tingling drama, just without the fuel.
Powertrain
Under the skin, the Elettrica packs four electric motors, one at each wheel, churning out over 1,000 horsepower. That’s enough to catapult it from 0–100 km/h in 2.5 seconds, before blowing past 310 km/h. Ferrari says it’ll also do around 530 km on a full charge (WLTP), but let’s be honest, that’s not the figure anyone’s talking about.
Built in Maranello, wired for emotion
Everything about the Elettrica has been developed in-house including motors, battery, electronics, the works. It rides on a new 116.5-inch wheelbase and tips the scales at just under 2,300 kg, which, for a 1,000 hp EV, is borderline witchcraft.
The battery itself is a 122 kWh unit, nestled in a chassis that hints at a four-door grand tourer design. Think practicality with poise. Ferrari hasn’t shown the full body yet, but if history’s any indicator, expect a shape that’ll make you forget every other EV you’ve seen.
The brand says the Elettrica will blend “technological precision with emotional craftsmanship.” Translation: every circuit will have soul.
A new chapter
Ferrari insists the Elettrica isn’t a one-time showpiece. It’s part of a larger multi-energy strategy, ICE, hybrid, and now electric, all coexisting. Interestingly, Ferrari’s EV target is now 20% of total sales by 2030, down from 40%, suggesting they’re pacing themselves rather than sprinting toward electrification.
That’s peak Ferrari. They don’t follow trends. They bend them to their will.
