Harley-Davidson, in partnership with Hero MotoCorp, has lifted the curtain on its updated 440-class roadster, the X440 T. The new variant keeps the same mechanical heart as the X440 but dresses it up with sharper styling and a few subtle design and features upgrades giving the entry-level Harley a fresh spin.
What’s new
The most obvious change lies at the back. The X440 T sports a redesigned tail section that fills the gap between the rear wheel and fender, lending the bike a more balanced, compact stance. The redesign makes the rear look tighter and more in line with what many expect from a modern street-naked.
Harley has added bar-end mirrors and introduced a new palette of colours, giving buyers more visual options. The overall silhouette seems to tilt towards sporty-urban rather than cruiser-retro , a clear signal that the X440 T wants to attract younger, style-conscious riders.
Other changes include a reworked exhaust layout, refreshed seat and tail-unit setup, and altered rear-end graphics. From the front including the tank, headlamp cluster, and frame. The bike seems largely unchanged, though the cosmetic tweaks already shift its vibe.
What remains the same
Mechanically, the X440 T mirrors the standard X440. It retains the 440 cc, air/oil-cooled, single-cylinder motor that outputs around 27 bhp and 38 Nm of torque. The chassis, 6-speed gearbox, upside-down front forks, twin rear shocks, and disc brakes remain unchanged.
This means performance, power delivery and riding dynamics both city-commute agility and highway stability will likely be very similar to the original X440. The X440 T appears to be a styling-and-packaging exercise rather than a performance overhaul.
Market positioning and what it means
The X440 T doesn’t seem aimed at lifting the bike into a higher price bracket. Initial reports expect the ex-showroom price to hover close to the existing X440 range, roughly INR 2.50–2.80 lakh (Delhi, ex-showroom) making it an attractive pick for buyers who want Harley styling without the high cost.
Harley-Davidson and Hero MotoCorp appear to be counting on the X440 T to widen their appeal among younger riders and urban commuters who want a bike that looks bold, feels manageable, and carries the Harley badge all without burning a big hole in the pocket.
