Italian motorcycle brand Italjet to enter India in December, Dragster 300, 459 and 700 confirmed

Key highlights

  • Italjet will make its India debut at India Bike Week on December 4-5, 2026.
  • The Dragster 300, Dragster 459 and Dragster 700 will be locally assembled at Motohaus India’s Kolhapur facility.
  • Customer deliveries are expected to begin in Q2 2027, with prices and India-specific specifications to be announced later.

India’s premium two-wheeler market is about to get a rather interesting new entrant. Italian motorcycle maker Italjet is officially heading to India, and it isn’t coming with conventional scooters or motorcycles. Instead, the brand plans to bring three machines from its distinctive Dragster range, each with its own take on performance and design.

Motohaus India, operated by KAW Veloce Motors, will introduce Italjet at India Bike Week on December 4 and 5, 2026. The lineup will comprise the Dragster 300, Dragster 459 and the flagship Dragster 700. All three models will be assembled at Motohaus’ manufacturing facility in Kolhapur, Maharashtra. Deliveries are expected to commence in the second quarter of 2027.

Three Dragsters, three different personalities

The entry point to the range will be the Italjet Dragster 300. Unlike conventional scooters, it uses an exposed trellis frame and the brand’s distinctive Independent Steering System (ISS). Its international version is powered by a 278 cc liquid-cooled engine, with the design placing as much emphasis on its mechanical architecture as on performance.

Moving up the ladder is the Dragster 459, which takes things in a considerably more serious direction. It gets a 449 cc liquid-cooled, DOHC parallel-twin engine. One of its key highlights is Italjet’s SmartShift transmission, which offers automatic operation as well as manual-style gear selection through handlebar-mounted paddle shifters.

At the top of the range will be the Dragster 700. This gets a 698 cc liquid-cooled, twin-cylinder engine paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. An exposed tubular steel trellis frame and its aggressive styling make it the most performance-focused offering in the planned Indian lineup.

Local assembly in Maharashtra

All three Italjet models will be assembled at Motohaus’ Kolhapur facility. This should help the company bring the Italian brand to India without relying entirely on fully imported motorcycles.

Motohaus also plans to establish dedicated Italjet Experience Centres in key markets rather than selling the range through conventional multi-brand dealerships. The first phase will cover Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Pune, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kochi and Hyderabad.

India launch and expected prices

The three motorcycles will be showcased to Indian audiences at India Bike Week in December. Customers can register their interest and join the official waiting list through Motohaus’ website from December 2026.

Prices, India-specific specifications and variant details have not been announced yet. These are expected to be revealed closer to the launch, with deliveries scheduled to begin in Q2 2027.
