JSW Motors Indian debut delayed? Here’s why
In a latest report published online by a media agency, JSW Motors first product is likely to get delayed in India. The reason cited behind it is the strict import restrictions of the Indian government and the slow import part approvals from the officials.
The report claims that the brand wrote to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in December 2025 that it is facing slow car parts import approvals, which will lead to the delay in its first car launch in India. The brand has invested 3 billion USD to launch as a full-fledged carmaker in India later this year.
Moreover, the brand also tried to find alternative vendors in Germany and Vietnam, but doing so would substantially increase the cost of their first car. Meanwhile, India’s 2020 import policy changes now allow foreign manufacturers to get quality approvals from the Indian authorities before supplying the parts in the domestic markets.
This is a leading cause of the delay, as it takes weeks. The major issue for now is the sourcing of the safety glasses, including the windshield and other panels. While the brand has not commented on this subject yet, we believe that the launch of its first product, which is going to be the rebadged Jetour T2, will be delayed.
