Kawasaki Versys 900: Everything to know about it

The new Versys 900 is a dual-sport derivative of the Z900 naked sportsbike. The Versys 900 offers a sleek yet muscular design language with a long front fascia that features a long, adjustable windscreen, a twin-pod LED headlight setup, a long-travel USD front suspension, and a wide handle with mirrors that offer embedded LED indicators.
The overall stance of the Versys 900 is imposing and upright, with rider seat scooped in and the sculpted fuel tank offering good thigh support. The Z900 packs a host of electronic aids like a big 5-inch coloured TFT screen with Bluetooth connectivity and a six-axis IMU that works in sync with front- and rear-based radar sensors. This package offers features like blind-spot monitoring and adaptive cruise control, along with a lean-sensitive ABS, ride modes, etc.

Kawasaki has revealed two iterations of the Versys 900: Standard and SE. The Standard version will be offered in black and white paint options, while the SE packs more features and it is offered in black/green and red/grey colour options in Europe. Since SE is the top-spec, it gets the ARAS or adaptive rider assistance systems as standard, and it is priced nearly Rs 13.2 lakh in Europe. Meanwhile, the standard variant will be offered at around Rs 12.2 lakh in Europe.
The steel trellis frame on the Versys 900 is completely new, and it packs the 948cc inline-four engine from the Z900, which offers 120 bhp and 97.3 Nm of power and torque. This engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox and comes with a bidirectional quickshifter and a slipper clutch as standard.

The hardware of the Versys 900 includes the adjustable USD front forks, adjustable rear monoshock, 17-inch alloy wheels with tubeless Metzeler Roadtec 01 tyres, twin front-disc brakes, a single rear disc brake, and adjustable rider seat height (825 mm to 845 mm). Additionally, the SE variant also gets LED fog lights, heated grips, hand guards, a radiator guard, frame protectors, an engine belly guard, and a centre stand.
Kawasaki is expected to introduce the Versys 900 in India early next year. It could be priced around Rs 1-2 lakh more than the Z900.
